Significance of 7 Vows in Indian Marriages, Indian Marriage Sath 7 phera significance, Indian women 7 marriage promises, Relationship

First vow
The couple appeals to the almighty to shower blessings in the form of pure and nourishing food with a respectful and noble life. The groom pledges to provide welfare and happiness to his wife and children, whereas the bride swears to shoulder all responsibilities for the welfare of the groom's entire family.

Second vow
The groom requests the bride to be his strength so that he can provide security and protect the family with courage. The bride agrees to abide by, while demanding eternal love and undivided attention.

Third vow
The couple pleads for wisdom, wealth, and prosperity in order to live a content and satisfied life. They pledge to remain spiritually committed and the bride assures the groom that by the virtue of true love and devotion she will remain a chaste wife.

Fourth vow
The groom thanks his would-be wife for bringing auspiciousness, happiness, and sacredness in his life. In return, the bride takes an oath to serve and please her husband in every way possible. Together, they also pledge to take care and respect their elders in the family.

Fifth vow
The importance of the fifth vow is to pray for the welfare of all the living things in this Universe and begetting a noble breed. The couple also prays to almighty to bless each other's friends and family with happiness and well-being.

Sixth vow
In the sixth vow, God is invoked to bless the couple for bountiful seasons and long lived togetherness. The groom wishes that his wife would glut his life with joy and peace; while the bride provides assurance that she would participate with her husband in all his noble and divine acts.

Seventh vow
This is the last vow adding completion to the ceremony. Here the couple pleads for the long lasting relationship, enriched with understanding and loyalty. They take an oath to nourish their relationship with love and honesty and be together with each other forever not only in this life, but also in the lives to come.

Even though different religions and cultures have their own unique set of vows and different ways to perform them, the basic meaning of all remains the same 'commitment', a vow of being spiritually united as one. It is a way to assure your partner that he/she is worthy of your love and you are willing to submit, 'till death do you part'.

Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee, Pateik
Producer : Firoz Nadiadwala, Prakash Jha

Director : Prakash Jha
Music Director : Loy Mendonca, Shankar Mahadevan. Ehsaan Noorani
Official Website : www.aarakshanthefilm.com

Rating: ** ½

First things first... despite all the hype and hoopla, the fact is that Aarakshan touches its core theme of reservation only in its first half and that too only partially and peripherally. The second half seems to narrate an altogether unconnected story.

While the film is supposed to be centered on the Supreme Court's 2008 verdict on the approval of additional reservations for other backward classes, it barely touches upon the topic beyond what is common knowledge. The issue and its implications are seen through the confines of the viewpoint of its principal protagonist and the narrative lacks any broader perspective on the national issue.

Raksha Bandhan in 2014 is on Sunday, 10th August 2014.

What Does Raksha Bandhan Mean and How is it Celebrated

Raksha Bandhan (the bond of protection), or Rakhi, is a festival primarily observed in North India, which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The festival is observed by Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims. The central ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi (sacred thread) by a sister on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well-being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her. The festival falls on the full moon day (Shravan Poornima) of the Shravan month of the Hindu lunisolar calendar. It grew in popularity after Rani Karnavati, the widowed queen of Chittor, sent a rakhi to the Mughal emperor Humayun when she required his help.

In southern & Central parts of India including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Orissa, this day (i.e. Shravan Poornima day), is when the Brahmin community performs the rituals of Avani Avittam or Upakarma.

While Raksha Bandhan is celebrated all over the country, different parts of the country mark the day in different ways.

In Nepal, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on shravan purnima. It is also called Janai Purnima (Janai is sacred thread and purnima means full moon). Janai is changed in this day, in Brahmins and kshetry's family. A sacred thread is tied on hand by senior family members and relatives. Nepalese people enjoy this festival eating its special food "Kwati", a soup of sprout of seven different grains

How is Hartalika teej celebrated, Hartalika Teej 2017 date, Hartalika teej, Hartalika teez festival, celebrate Hartalika teej, pooja, process, ritual, Hartalika teej katha, teej women fast, ladies, female

Hartalika Teej is on 24th August 2017

Hartalika Teej is an important Hindu fasting observed by Hindu women and is dedicated to Goddess Parvati in North India. .Hartalika Teej falls on the third day of the first fortnight of the month of 'Bhadra'. It is a three-day festival which is celebrated by women in honor of Parvati Ma. It is one of three Teej festivals and is mainly observed in North India and western parts of India. Hartalika Teez is observed mainly in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and is some parts of Maharashtra.

Popular belief is that by observing Hartalika Teej Vrat unmarried women will get good husbands. This Teez is observed by both married and unmarried women. Married women observe the Vrat for a happy and peaceful married life.

Hartalika Teej is based on the intense austerities (tapas) observed by Goddess Parvathi to get Lord Shiva as her husband. It is believed that Goddess Parvati will bless those women who observe the Vrat.

Married ladies come back to their parents home to celebrate the festival. Hartalika Teej is the time to adorn oneself with new clothes and jewelry. Applying mehndi on hands and feet is a unique feature of Hartalika Teej celebrations. Women usually dress up in green colored clothes, wear golden bindi and apply a thick layer of kajal. They do their best to look beautiful at the time of Hartalika Teej.

Teej Puja Process

Women either gather at a nearby temple or a garden where the puja is arranged. The main puja takes place with holy offerings of flowers, sweets and coins. A semi-circle is created and an idol of Goddess Parvati is kept in the middle. A pujarin or all the ladies together narrate the holy Teej Katha. Young girls also sit to listen the auspicious katha. While listening to the katha, women are expected to put their mind and thoughts towards their soul mate.

When the puja gets over women offer fruits, flowers and other holy items and seek blessings of Goddess Parvati for marital bliss. Another very important part of Teej Puja is the oil lamp which should be kept alight throughout the night as it is bad omen if it dies away.
At some places, after paying homage to Goddess Parvati, women bath with red mud found on the roots of the sacred Datiwan bush. This is an act of purification. It is believed that a woman is absolved from all sins after taking this holy bath.

At the end of the day, women share their happiness and joy by dancing and singing traditional songs in praise of Lord Shiva and her consort Parvati.

Kitchen Safety Tips, Safe Kitchen Indian Woman, Kitchen Safety with Kids, Toddlers, Safe Kitcgen Habits, keep Kitchen Safe children, women, ladies, female

1. Make sure all wires, cords and plugs on your appliances are not frayed and that the plugs have 3-prong grounded connections. This would include coffee makers, toasters, blenders, microwaves, mixers, etc.

2. Don’t use extension cords. You can obtain a junction box that has built-in GFI (ground fault interrupters). This will allow you extra plug in space and the GFI will kick in if there is a power shortage. Helps avoid water/electrical shock accidents.

3. Get rid of any appliance that is broken or damaged. New ones are very inexpensive these days. If a new one would bust your budget, try garage and tag sales (just make sure you’re not buying somebody else’s broken appliance).

4. Put a childproof lock not only on the cabinets with your medicines and cleaning supplies, but also your oven.

5. Don’t leave the kitchen with pots & pans cooking on the stove. Make sure to turn off burners as soon as you take the pot off.

6. Avoid wearing inappropriate clothing while cooking. That means loose sleeves and sweaters.

7. Keep dish towels, pot holders and oven mitts away from the stove.

8. Keep matches and lighters in high places where curious little hands can’t reach them.

9. If using candles in the kitchen, don’t leave the room (or home) while they’re burning. Make sure they are in a safe place and are in flame proof containers.

10. Check furniture, curtains, dish towels, etc. to be sure they are not blocking heaters or vents.

11. Keep a fire extinguisher in or near the kitchen, but not near the stove or the heater.

12. In case of a grease fire, salt and/or baking soda will help if you do not have a fire extinguisher.

13. Keep emergency numbers handy – 911 is easy to remember, but phone numbers to Poison Control might take longer.

14. Scalding is one of the most common injuries in the kitchen. Make sure to turn pot handles away from the front of the stove and away from little curious hands.

15. Scalding can occur from hot steam as well. Be careful when lifting lids from hot food (including opening that hot bag of microwave popcorn)!

16. Handling Knives: (a) Always cut away from your body when using a knife. It can slip and cut you, (b) Always use a cutting board, (c) Protect your counter tops, (d) Keep blades sharp, (e) Keep knives clean (including handle) – slippery handles can cause injuries, (f) Don’t put knives in a sink of soapy water – they may not be seen and accidents can occur, (g) Wash and dry carefully keeping sharp edge away from your hands, (h) Always lay them flat, never on the back or edge, (i) Don’t attempt to catch a knife as it falls – better it hits the floor than cut your hand, (j) Wash knives with warm soapy water after each use.

17. Be sure appliances are unplugged before touching sharp edges (blenders, can openers, mixers, etc.).

18. Never stick a fork in a toaster to retrieve trapped toast – you may get shocking results.

19. Always be sure the blender is unplugged before touching the blades.

20. Be careful about sharp edges: scissors, broken glass, potato peeler, etc.

21. Never ever, ever leave cooking foods unattended – not even for a minute.

22. Casualness causes casualties – don’t answer or talk on the phone while cooking – you can be distracted and injuries can result.

Other Tips

• Make sure the temperature in your refrigerator is 40 degrees or under. Get a good thermometer for the fridge, keep it in there where you can see it, and check it often.

• Keep shrimp, lobster, oysters and such in the refrigerator on ice. Ideally, put the seafood on top of the ice, and the ice in a colander or other bowl with holes in it so that when the ice melts it can drain into another container.

• When you want to refrigerate a hot dish, first leave it for a bit in a cool spot with the lid ajar so that it can cool down before you put it in the refrigerator. If you put a hot dish in before it cools, it will warm up the refrigerator, endangering everything else in there.

• A soon as you have served a stuffed bird such as a turkey, remove the stuffing that is left in the bird so that it can cool down faster.

Chemicals

In addition to the foodstuffs, there are a lot of chemicals in the kitchen compliment. Here are some that are pertinent to safety:

• Drain cleaners, bleaches and strong acids can be dangerous. Never mix different types of these products, explosions or dangerous gasses may result. Make sure these are always used strictly according to the directions on the package, and make sure that the containers are properly sealed when not in use.

• Carbon monoxide results from incomplete burning of fuel. Monoxide poisoning can result from improperly adjusted or poorly vented gas appliances. Have your's professionally checked occasionally. Also, never use charcoal briquettes or the like to cook or heat indoors.

• Volatiles, such as cleaning fluids, gasoline, kerosene and such are often flammable, can easily cause fires and explosions, and should never be stored in a kitchen.

• Pesticides such as bug killers, roach poison and rodent bait should be considered dangerous. If you get them on your hands, wash them off. When you use them, make sure there is no uncovered food they can get into. Be sure they are not accessible to children or pets. Store carefully, and preferably not in the kitchen.

• If you must store cleaning chemicals and other possibly toxic non-food items in the kitchen, always store them on shelves below foodstuffs, so if they leak, they can't get into your food.

Slips and Falls

Soapy water, grease and oils, and things like the traditional banana peel are standard in kitchens and are all slippery. Here are a couple ways to keep slips and falls to a minimum.

• If you spill something on the floor, clean it up. Keep a mop or such handy for this purpose.

• Often when you are working in the kitchen you are moving fast. Don't leave boxes, stools, bags of groceries or anything else out on the floor where they can trip up a fast moving cook.

• Glazed floor tile is beautiful, but dangerous. Not only does glazed tile guarantee that anything breakable that is dropped on it will break, but a thin coating of oil or soapy water can make it slick as ice. If you have a choice, avoid glazed tile for kitchen floors.

Safety around Kitchen Electricity

Keep your eyes on the electricity in your kitchen, it can electrocute you, or burn your place down if it gets loose.

• Keep an eye on all electrical cords. Watch for any breaks or cuts, or frayed areas where the cord passes over an edge or something has sat on it. Repair any damage you find.

• Don't overload circuits by using multiple plugs, extension cords or the like. If you have old wiring, it is often a good idea to get it checked by a professional for load carrying capacity.

• Don't use appliances near the sink or other water. If one falls in, it can electrocute anyone nearby. If you must have a wall socket near the sink, make sure it has a "Ground Fault Interrupter" type socket assembly.

Glass Utensils on Kitchen Burners, Explosion Danger

Something I hadn't heard of before was recently brought to my attention. I have always been wary of glass utensils over fire, but Paul Griffo says they can go off like a grenade if really badly treated. To quote him:

"It happened while we were on vacation in Florida. Our condo had electric burners. Someone left an empty glass casserole dish on the burner, which was accidentally left on. A little while later, BOOM! Thank God no one--especially none of my children--were standing close by."

Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks to Paul for the "Heads up".

Hot Glass Utensils Can Break, Wet Hot Pads Can Burn.

Here are a couple more possible hazards. The first I haven't experienced, but could spread boiling liquids around. The second I have had happen and it can really hurt.:

GoHealthy, Tips to stay healthy for women, Healthy food for woman, healthy tips for Indian female, stay healthy tips for ladies, how to stay healthy India women, healthy habits for women, daily stay healthy tips for women

1. Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods. You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily food selection should include bread and other whole-grain products; fruits; vegetables; dairy products; and meat, poultry, fish and other protein foods. How much you should eat depends on your calorie needs. Use the Food Guide Pyramid and the Nutrition Facts panel on food labels as handy references.

2. Enjoy plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Surveys show most Americans don't eat enough of these foods. Do you eat 6-11 servings from the bread, rice, cereal and pasta group, 3 of which should be whole grains? Do you eat 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables? If you don't enjoy some of these at first, give them another chance. Look through cookbooks for tasty ways to prepare unfamiliar foods.

3. Maintain a healthy weight. The weight that's right for you depends on many factors including your sex, height, age and heredity. Excess body fat increases your chances for high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some types of cancer and other illnesses. But being too thin can increase your risk for osteoporosis, menstrual irregularities and other health problems. If you're constantly losing and regaining weight, a registered dietitian can help you develop sensible eating habits for successful weight management. Regular exercise is also important to maintaining a healthy weight.

4. Eat moderate portions. If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it's easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. Did you know the recommended serving of cooked meat is 3 ounces, similar in size to a deck of playing cards? A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and a cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings. Refer to the Food Guide Pyramid for information on recommended serving sizes.

5. Eat regular meals. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal.

6. Reduce, don't eliminate certain foods. Most people eat for pleasure as well as nutrition. If your favorite foods are high in fat, salt or sugar, the key is moderating how much of these foods you eat and how often you eat them.

Identify major sources of these ingredients in your diet and make changes, if necessary. Adults who eat high-fat meats or whole-milk dairy products at every meal are probably eating too much fat. Use the Nutrition Facts panel on the food label to help balance your choices.

Choosing skim or low-fat dairy products and lean cuts of meat such as flank steak and beef round can reduce fat intake significantly.
If you love fried chicken, however, you don't have to give it up. Just eat it less often. When dining out, share it with a friend, ask for a take-home bag or a smaller portion.

7. Balance your food choices over time. Not every food has to be "perfect." When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern.

8. Know your diet pitfalls. To improve your eating habits, you first have to know what's wrong with them. Write down everything you eat for three days. Then check your list according to the rest of these tips. Do you add a lot of butter, creamy sauces or salad dressings? Rather than eliminating these foods, just cut back your portions. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? If not, you may be missing out on vital nutrients.

9. Make changes gradually. Just as there are no "superfoods" or easy answers to a healthy diet, don't expect to totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Changing too much, too fast can get in the way of success. Begin to remedy excesses or deficiencies with modest changes that can add up to positive, lifelong eating habits. For instance, if you don't like the taste of skim milk, try low-fat. Eventually you may find you like skim, too.

10. Remember, foods are not good or bad. Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Don't feel guilty if you love foods such as apple pie, potato chips, candy bars or ice cream. Eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health.

Other important things to remember
Stay positive - Reduce stress and always stay positive no matter what.

Up your calcium - Many people don't get enough calcium—which helps prevent osteoporosis—through diet alone. Women ages 19 to 50 should get 1,000 milligrams or eat three to four servings of foods high in the mineral (taken with vitamin D for absorption) daily

Boost your mood with exercise - Exercise has a host of health benefits and can lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and other conditions. But the best news is that it can improve your mood. One study found that for depressed people, exercise was as effective as antidepressant medication

Stay connected - Having a good network of friends and family is associated with greater longevity, and loneliness is associated with a greater risk of heart disease. Do Facebook friends count? We like to think so.
Get a massage

A monthly massage can be very relaxing, be it at home or at a parlour. It will totally refresh you and re- energize you.

Cheers!

Moderate drinking—no more than one drink a day for women—may shield you from cardiovascular disease and may even help avoid excess weight gain, according to research. Just be sure not to overdo it, and if you have risk factors or a family history that suggests you shouldn't drink, don't use it as an excuse to start. (And excess alcohol intake is associated with a higher breast cancer risk.)

Have some fun in the sun

Just 15 to 20 minutes of sunlight exposure each day (sans sunscreen) can supply your daily need for vitamin D. Getting a sufficient amount of vitamin D may ward off diabetes, heart attacks, heart failure, high blood pressure, heart disease, and maybe even the common cold. But don't overdo it—too much sun exposure can increase your risk of skin cancer

See your dentist

Dental health is about more than just pretty teeth. In particular, gum disease

Star Cast : Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin
Music : Shankar / Ehsan / Roy
Director : Zoya Akhtar
Producer : Ritesh Sidwani / Farhan Akhtar
Rating :   *** 1/2 ( 3, 1/2)
Recommend : Must Watch /  Entertainer

Movie is about life, love and friendship. Very much like Dil Chahta Hai, movie revolves around life of 3 male friends who want to live life. Zoya Akhtar has done a good job by adding some wit to a very much predictable story.
Arjun has a fear of the deep, Imran freezes at the very thought of jumping from an airborne chopper and Kabir has no appetite for being gored by a bull. But they are bound by an agreement sealed between the friends at the very outset of the voyage of discovery. So they are compelled to deal with their phobias and surmount them in acts of inner defiance that alter their lives forever.

Martinis & Other Up Drinks

The Martini is the classic of classic cocktails, but there are many variations of the dry drink that, although not technically Martinis, are often referred to as such. To be technical about it these drinks are neat drinks, served in a cocktail, or martini, glass, but popular culture has deemed them all to be martinis. At any rate, these include some of the most popular up drinks, a few classics and a few more modern creations born out of the cocktail resurgence of the last few decades.

• Martini (& close variations)

• Apple Martini

• Bacardi Cocktail

• Chocolate Martini

• Clover Club Cocktail

• Cosmopolitan

• Gimlet

• Kamikaze

Tall Drinks

When you're looking for a tall glass of liquor with a lot of flavor, you'll often be offered one of these mixed drinks. Most of them are very easy to remember and the majority of bartenders will know how to make a good one. The best part about knowing your highballs is that you'll be able to find these drinks in almost any type of bar you walk into, from a swanky cocktail lounge to a sports pub and even a dive bar. Because there is more liquid and ice in highballs they are meant to be sipped slowly and enjoyed over a long period of time. Highballs are perfect with a meal or anytime you want a "watered down" drink.

• Anejo Highball

• Bloody Mary

• Cape Codder

• Fuzzy Navel

• Gin & Tonic

• Harvey Wallbanger

• Highball

• Long Island Iced Tea

• Lynchburg Lemonade

• Mint Julep

• Screwdriver

On the Rocks

Some of the best-known drinks are lowballs, or those served on the rocks without the high volume mixers you find in highballs. Lowballs are mixed drinks that are mostly made of a mix of distilled spirits which are either shaken and strained over ice or built in the glass and stirred. You'll find these drinks are more alcoholic than highballs, but as the ice melts they are diluted to a perfect mixture. A few of these cocktails are also commonly shaken then strained into a cocktail glass for a neat, up alternative.

• Black Russian

• Caipirinha

• Colorado Bulldog

• Godfather

• Mudslide

• Negroni

• Old-fashioned

• Rusty Nail

• Sazerac

• Sneaky Pete

• Toasted Almond

Tropical Drinks

Many tropical cocktails first became popular in the 1920's and 30's and are as famous today as they were then. It was during that time that Ernest Hemingway helped bring the Daiquiri out of the obscurity of Havana bars and Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic opened up their first tiki bars which were to become great hits. Rum is the dominant spirit of most tropical cocktails, but tequila and vodka are also found in some of the favorites. Tropical cocktails typically have a mix of sweet and sour flavors and include almost any fruit you could think of.

• Bahama Mama

• Between the Sheets

• Daiquiri

• Hurricane

• Mai Tai

• Margarita

• Mojito

• Pina Colada

• Planter's Punch

• Rum Runner

• Sex on the Beach

• Zombie

Hot Cocktails

As the winter winds begin to blow the tastes of many drinkers change and the chilled cocktails just won't do. Thank goodness there are plenty of hot cocktails that can warm you up from the inside out. Almost any liquor can be added to coffee for a warm, spiked cup of java, and the list of "cafe" cocktails is almost endless. If coffee is not your cup of tea (so to speak) there are some other, much more classic, hot cocktails that might fit your tastes. Drinks like the Hot Buttered Rum, Hot Toddy and Tom and Jerry have long been favorite warm drinks and are requirements of many family's holiday traditions.

• Cafe Amore

• Cafe Caribbean

• Hot Apple Toddy

• Hot Buttered Rum

• Hot Peppermint Patty

• Hot Toddy

• Indian Summer

• Irish Coffee

• Ski Lift

• Tom and Jerry

Shooters

Ahh, the infamous shooters. What started with a shot of whiskey or tequila for a quick jolt of "reality" or to cure whatever might ail you has transformed into a long list of short shooters that come in any color and flavor possible. Bartenders have pulled out all the obscure liqueurs lying dormant in the wells to create many of these fun party drinks that are meant to get you buzzed really quick. Surprisingly, many shooters taste really good (while many are absolutely dreadful), it's just a shame that there's not enough time to enjoy the flavor combinations.

• After Five

• Blow Job

• Alabama Slammer

• B-52

• Irish Car Bomb

• Jell-O Shot

• Liquid Cocaine
