Story And Plot
Born to an owner of a marriage bureau Champak Lal, Mansukh has been a complete failure ever since he has grown up and tried to help his father in their family business. All the alliances he had tried to get done have resulted in separation even before the marriage took place.
To prove his worth to his father, he takes up an unusual challenge of getting an underworld don TT bhai's spoilt brat sister Indu getting married to a cop called Bahattar Singh aka Khiladi 786 in Punjab and to add more to his problems he convinces even TT bhai to pretend as a cop but little did the over enthusiast know that Bahattar Singh, his father Sattar Singh and his uncle Ikhattar Singh were not cops but a family of conmen. The story takes a shape as the two hardcore families of two different states pretend to be policemen in front of each other and the beans from each side can be spilled anytime which can be life threatening for Mansukh.

What follows is a roller-coaster ride filled with music, romance, comedy and power packed action!
Production

Casting
Akshay kumar is in the lead (title) role of Khiladi 786. Himesh Reshammiya is playing the role of a Gujrati Guy Mansukh in this movie, and Paresh Rawal is playing the role of Mansukh's father Champaklal. Earlier, Ileana D'Cruz was reported to have signed the film. Later, this was proven false after actress Nargis Fakhri was signed for the film. Although, soon after the signing, Fakhri was dropped from the project as Amitabh Bachchan was earlier to be playing her older brother in the film, but due to Bachchan being replaced by Mithun Chakraborty, the producers of the film felt she wouldn't fit the role of Chakraborty's sister. It was later reported that either actress Ileana D'Cruz would rejoin the project, or Diana Penty will be replacing Fakhri in the project. In June 2012, Asin was signed to play the leading lady of the film, putting all rumours to a stop.
Filming
The shooting of the movie commenced from June 2, 2012 for a 20 day schedule in Kamalistan Studios. During the first schedule of Khiladi 786, Akshay performed a dangerous stunt where he jumped from a balcony of a bungalow of about 45 feet without any cables, wires or body- doubles. The only thing to soften his jump were some mattresses and card-boxes. The action sequences of the film have been provided by Jal Singh Nijjar. Ashis R Mohan was the assistant director of Rohit Shetty before.

Review

Rating: **
If only the filmmakers understand that we’ve had too much of the clichéd cop image. First Dabangg, then Singham, then Rowdy Rathore and now Khiladi 786. And wait, there’s more…it’s Dabangg 2 in a few weeks from now. Khiladi 786 has all the conventional elements that a typical masala film has – a bad cop, a runaway bride, a lachar goon, songs after every few minutes…Yet, it fails to create an impact.

Rediff.com
Shubir Rishi feels Khiladi 786 is a wannabe funny movie, an assault on our collective intellect.
Disclaimer: The writer of this review has been brought up on a constant diet of bad-good movies such as Gunda, Clerk, Saawariya and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, and his patience for such movies is limitless.
BUT I have also lost count of the number of times I have wanted to run away, or close my eyes and wished the movie was finished. The last such movie was unfortunately another Akshay Kumar starrer called Joker. These movies come under a category called SO-bad-I-want-to-be-The-Punisher.
